Jana Long, E-RYT, is the director of Power of One Yoga Center in Baltimore, MD. She is a certified yoga teacher and therapist, Ayurvedic lifestyle consultant, meditation facilitator and spiritual life coach. She is the Executive Director and co-founder of the Black Yoga Teachers Alliance, Inc. She earned her 200-hour teacher certification at the Yama School for Yoga, Ayurveda & the Meditative Arts in Baltimore, MD, and completed the level one certification course in Food, Breath, Sound and Ayurvedic Nutrition from the Wise Earth School of Ayurveda in Candler, NC. Her 300-hour professional level yoga teacher certification was awarded by the Kripalu School for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, MA. Jana trained and was certified in the therapeutic application of yoga for seniors by Duke Integrative Medicine in Durham, NC. Additionally, she is recognized as an IAYT certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT), and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). Yoga studies abroad include trips to Ghana, West Africa to learn traditional healing and spiritual practices of the Akan people, and studies in yoga tantra and meditation at the Bihar School of Yoga and the Sivananda ashram in India. She is an initiate into the Satyananda yoga tradition whose central teachings are "serve, love and give." She was given the spiritual name Gyanamati which means "Wise Mother" by her guru Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati. In 2015 Jana was invited to join the Global Peace Initiative of Women/Contemplative Alliance.
In addition to yoga, Jana is a writer, a certified Master Gardener, and an ardent student of astrology with more than 40 years experience as an intuitive interpreter of natal charts.
